Research Interests:

I began working in the Biostatistics Unit in 2008 and work with Ian White.

Summary of research interests:

  • My main interest is currently in methods for correcting for measurement error in epidemiological studies.
  • I am particularly interested in modelling and correcting for measurement error in nutritional epidemiology, which relies largely on self-reported measures of dietary intake
  • I am closely involved in the MRC Centre for Nutritional Epidemiology in Cancer Prevention and Survival at the University of Cambridge, which established the UK Dietary Cohort Consortium. This study combines case-control data on dietary intake and three cancer outcomes (colorectal, breast, prostate) from across 7 UK centres, all of which have measured dietary intake using diet diaries.
  • I am interested in the design and analysis of case-control studies, in particular studies nested within prospective cohorts. Case-control studies were the topic of my DPhil thesis.
  • More recently I have become interested in the application of missing data methods in case-control studies and also in applying causal inference methodology in observational studies. I hope to develop more work in these areas.

Collaborators:

I am fortunate to be collaborating in work with David Cox (Nuffield College, Oxford), Amy Berrington de Gonzalez (National Cancer Institute), Victor Kipnis and Doug Midthune (National Cancer Institute), Gunter Kuhnle (University of Reading), and Theodore Liou (University of Utah).
