“How to use simulation studies in understanding and evaluating statistical methods”
Abstract:
I will talk about some of my own experiences of using simulation studies to understand and evaluate statistical methods. I will suggest some ways to classify and describe simulation studies, and construct an analogy with randomised trials. I will then give some examples from research in missing data, including the difficult situation where simulation studies are used to compare methods that make different untestable assumptions.
