BSU Director elected to Fellowship in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics

Congratulations to Sylvia Richardson, Director of MRC Biostatistics Unit, who has been elected to Fellowship in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

The Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) is an international professional and scholarly society devoted to the development, dissemination, and application of statistics and probability. The Institute was founded in 1935 with Harry C. Carver and Henry L. Reitz as its two most important supporters.

The Institute publishes journals, including:

The Fellowship honours the outstanding research and professional contributions of IMS members, contributions which help keep IMS in a leading role in the field of statistics and probability.

To mark this outstanding achievement, Sylvia has been invited to receive a plaque during the IMS Presidential Address and Awards Ceremony in Seattle, USA.

Sylvia said: “I am honoured and feel very privileged to receive this award. I have been lucky to participate in the exciting development of our field, particularly from the Biostatistics angle, and would like to acknowledge the contribution of my many collaborators over the years."
