We are delighted to announce that Jessica Barrett, Sofía Villar and Oscar Rueda have been promoted from Senior Research Associates to Principal Research Associates (Programme Leader Track to Programme Leader in MRC terms), recognising their outstanding work over the last few years.
Here they each share their thoughts on their promotion.
I am delighted to have received this recognition, and am looking forward to expanding my research horizons in this new role. I am grateful to all who have supported me to achieve this, including my group members, collaborators, mentors, and to the BSU for being such a fantastic place to work!

Jessica Barrett
This promotion is an important recognition of the quality of research I have pursued since September 2020. As such, it is a distinction that should be fairly shared by many: all my immediate team for their contributions, my indirect network of collaborators and mentors (particularly the Papworth Trials Unit Collaboration), and the BSU as the supportive environment in which to develop as a researcher. I expect the impact of this will go beyond that of my own career and be beneficial to all in the ESD group, the BSU and researchers working on the theory and use in practice of response-adaptive methods for clinical trials!

Sofía Villar
I am very happy for this promotion, as this is a very important recognition to the work that our group has been doing. I am very grateful to the members of my group, my external collaborators, my funders, and in particular, to the BSU for all its support since I joined. It is truly an excellent place to work and develop a career!
