In the 17th and final episode of the CSaP series on science, policy, and pandemics, host Dr Rob Doubleday and expert guests, including our Director Sylvia Richardson, explore lessons learnt during the COVID-19 pandemic and how researchers might use those lessons to prepare for future pandemics.
Sylvia discusses the development of real-time surveillance systems since the outbreak, and how the global pandemic has led to data being shared widely and at speed. However, to better understand the virus, there needs to be exchange of information at local and national levels in order to learn more from each other.
