Speaker: Ellen Thomas, Chief Medical Officer, Genomics England
Abstract: The Generation Study is a research programme which is sequencing the genomes of 100,000 babies at birth and returning results related to around 200 rare conditions, where early intervention is likely to improve outcomes. The government's 10 Year Health Plan has laid out the ambition to roll out genomic newborn screening to all babies in the UK, informed by the evidence from the study. In this seminar, the Generation Study team will introduce the programme, and describe how we are collecting and evaluating evidence, with a focus on potential statistical approaches to determining screening accuracy and making evidence-based decisions in the context of very rare conditions and areas of uncertainty around them.
This will be a free hybrid seminar. To register to attend remotely, please click here: https://cam-ac-uk.zoom.us/meeting/register/0erNJSr0T2OKXJE4uYYgHQ
