Md Shafiqur Rahman is a Research Associate in genetic epidemiology working on the polygenic prediction of age-related neurological outcomes. He studied Speech and Language Therapy (BSc.) at the University of Dhaka (Dhaka, Bangladesh). After that, he studied Public Health Epidemiology (MSc.) at Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden). He worked as a research assistant for one and a half years in the Dept. of Public Health Sciences and Dept. of Neurogenetics at Karolinska Institute. In 2018, he moved to London and completed PhD training in genetic epidemiology from King’s College London. His doctoral project investigated Omics (genomics and glycomics) in Chronic Widespread Pain using large scale data sets. His current research interests centre around understanding causal mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurological conditions, early risk stratification of patients and drug repurposing.
